Arranged marriage has been present in Australia for several decades due to our rich cultural diversity. For many Australians, it is a part of family life and a celebrated aspect of ones culture.
While parliament passed the Crimes Legislation Amendment (Slavery, Slavery-like Conditions and People Trafficking) Act in late 2013, to make forced marriages an offence in Australia, arranged marriages remain valid and completely legitimate.
Arranged marriages, however, continue to thrive as they are fuelled by family, tradition and most of all, love.
